Incoming student housing application steps

All new first-time, full-time, first-year students enrolling in on-ground courses must live in university housing through the end of their first academic year of enrollment (i.e., through the end of their first spring quarter). Requests for exemptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis and must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the start of the student’s first quarter of enrollment.

To submit a housing exemption, log in to MySCAD > SCAD life > My housing channel > "First-year housing exemption request form" link.

Housing exemptions related to medical concerns must be processed through the office of disability resources. Email disability@scad.edu or atldisability@scad.edu or call 912.525.6233 for assistance.

  • ADA housing accommodations

Due to the high demand for housing, single or private rooms generally are not available. Students with medical needs who may require a single or private room or other specific housing assignments should indicate their needs on the housing application and must provide a letter from a licensed physician certifying any condition that requires specific provisions or necessitates special consideration

The physician’s letter should be submitted to the office of disability resources at SCAD by the following deadlines:

    • Fall quarter: May 1
    • Winter quarter: Oct. 1
    • Spring quarter: Feb. 1
    • Summer quarter: April 1

SCAD reviews all requests and notifies students once a decision is made. For more information contact the office of disability resources.

  • Pay US$750 housing application fee

To sign up for SCAD housing, new students must first pay the nonrefundable and nontransferable US$750 housing application fee, due at the same time as their enrollment fee.

Online payment via scad.edu/enrollfee is strongly preferred. If payment by check is necessary, those should be mailed to the student accounts office:

    SCAD Student Accounts Office
    P.O. Box 2701
    Savannah, GA
    31402-2701 USA

To ensure proper credit, include the student’s name as registered with SCAD, the student ID number, and label the check "housing fee." The housing application fee may be paid as soon as the student is admitted to SCAD.

Priority deadlines to submit the housing application fee:

    • Fall quarter: May 1
    • Winter quarter: Oct. 1
    • Spring quarter: Feb. 1
    • Summer quarter: April 1

To pay the housing application fee separately after the enrollment fee has been paid:

    • Log in to MySCAD
    • Personal info page
    • Student account channel
    • "Your student account" link

Authorized parents can access their student’s account at scad.edu/paymentportal. Click "Deposits" to pay the housing reservation application fee.

  • Submit 2025–26 housing application

Once students pay the enrollment fee, the admission department provides login information for MySCAD. Students who have paid the housing application fee will receive access to the 2025–26 housing application within 48 hours of payment.

    To access the application:

    • Log in to MySCAD
    • SCAD life page
    • My housing channel
    • "Complete my housing application"

    Once in the application:

    • Select your preferred gender housing option
    • Answer the roommate questionnaire honestly and to the best of your ability
    • Read and sign the Housing License Agreement
    • Select your building preferences
    • Be sure to click "Submit" at the end

The Housing License Agreement is a binding agreement for the entire 2025–26 academic year (fall through spring). We highly encourage students to review the Housing License Agreement with any family member who is involved with the student’s financial decisions.

Students must submit the housing application in order to secure a housing assignment. They may indicate building preferences on the application, but specific placements are not guaranteed.

Priority deadlines to submit the housing application:

    • Fall quarter: May 1
    • Winter quarter: Oct. 1
    • Spring quarter: Feb. 1
    • Summer quarter: April 1
  • Roommate requests

Students who wish to explore roommate options and/or request a particular student as a roommate may do so online. Only students who paid the housing application fee by the deadline and completed the housing application are eligible to be requested as roommates. Students must submit roommate requests according to the timeline in the emails they will receive from the SCADhome office. If a roommate request is not mutual, the assignment is not granted. As soon as your application is submitted, you can explore the roommate matching portal within the SCADhome website.

    To explore and select roommates:

    • Visit Manage My Fall Housing
    • Manage My Roommates
    • 2025–26 academic year
    • Search for potential roommates by details or by profiles, or ask the portal to suggest high-percentage roommate matches for you

Already know who you want to live with? As soon as each member of your preferred roommate group has submitted their housing application, you can match up with one another in the portal.

Once you have your roommate group matched up, the leader of the group will need to verify the group via the following steps:

    • Manage My Fall Housing
    • Manage My Roommates
    • 2025–26 academic year
    • "Verify group"

Students applying for the winter, spring, and summer quarters will be assigned housing based on availability. Students will not be able to request roommates during those times.

  • Receive your housing assignment and fall move-in date and time

You’ll receive your fall housing assignment, including building and room number, as well as roommate and suitemate information, if applicable, in early July. You’ll also receive your assigned date and time for fall move-in at the same time. It is important that you move in at the time assigned to you for the most seamless experience.

We encourage students to connect early with roommates and suitemates to get to know each other and discuss plans for bringing shared items for the space, such as shower curtain, vacuum, TV, etc.

  • Pay fall housing balance

The remaining fall quarter housing balance is due to the student accounts office by Aug. 1. Students who do not make housing payments by the posted deadlines may forfeit their housing assignment. Housing is subject to availability.

If aid is in place, be sure to confirm the aid is sufficient to cover housing, as all aid is applied first toward tuition. Students who have to pay out of pocket to ensure payment by the balance due date may be eligible for a refund once the aid disburses after the drop/add period of the term. Students must adhere to SCADhome deadlines to ensure a housing assignment.

Important to note

Assignments

  • New students are assigned housing based on the date their housing application is submitted and their housing application fee was paid, provided the housing application was submitted by the published deadline. Many students choose to pay the housing application fee at the same time as the enrollment fee. For fall quarter, both are due May 1.
  • Housing is subject to availability.

Communication

  • SCADhome will send regular updates and reminders regarding the process to students’ university email, so it is essential that students check their SCAD email regularly.
  • Once assignments are made, students are notified by SCAD email. At that time, assignments and roommate information are available through MySCAD, the university’s intranet.
  • Students can find additional details and FAQs regarding the housing selection process by browsing articles in the SCADhome Service Hub, scadhome.scad.edu.

Financial aid

  • If the authorized financial aid does not cover the balance due from housing charges, payment must be made out of pocket. Financial aid amounts may be determined by visiting:

    • MySCAD
    • Personal info page
    • My financial aid channel
    • "Financial aid dashboard" link

Contractual obligations

  • The Housing License Agreement is a nine-month legally binding agreement for the entire academic year outlining SCADhome room rates and policies and procedures regarding behavior, room care, and condition.
  • New incoming students are subject to an additional US$1,500 nonrefundable cancellation fee if they cancel fewer than 30 days prior to the quarter they are scheduled to move in to their residence hall.
  • The Housing License Agreement must be renewed annually while a student resides in SCAD housing.
  • Students may be assessed damage fees based on the condition of their rooms after they leave.
  • When selecting housing preferences, students must read all terms and conditions of the agreement carefully and then agree to the form by following the steps as indicated online.
