Frequently asked questions

How do you assign students?

We make new student housing assignments, as space allows, based on a combination of personality and habits, hall, and roommate preferences submitted, along with the date the housing application fee was paid, and the housing application was submitted. Students who intend to be enrolled in the subsequent academic year and who are living in university housing during the spring quarter of the current year have the option to participate in the continuing student housing registration process during spring quarter in order to select housing for the next academic year.

Can I change rooms prior to my arrival?

Once assignments are made and students are notified of their assignment, we are unable to make changes until after the first week of classes. Changes at that time are based on space availability.

Why was I assigned a different building than I listed under hall preferences?

We prioritize new incoming student housing assignments based on the date the housing application fee was paid and the housing application was submitted. It is likely there were no available spaces in your preferred hall by the time your request was processed.

How many classes do I need to be registered for to live in the halls?

Students need to be enrolled full time (15 credit hours for undergraduate or 10 credit hours for graduate), with at least one course meeting in person, on-ground. If you plan to drop below full-time, please contact the SCADhome office at SCADhome@scad.edu before doing so, as it could impact your housing eligibility.

How do I pay for the meal plan and when will I receive more information?

All charges, including those for meal plans, are paid through the student accounts office online via TouchNet. Additional information is available through the SCAD Card services offices at each university location.

All students living in SCAD housing are required to select a meal plan. Students residing in traditional residence halls without a kitchen must choose from one of the traditional meal plans. Students living in apartment-style university housing with a full kitchen may select from any of the six meal plans. Students who do not select a meal plan will be assigned a default meal plan based on their housing type.

How can I cancel my housing license agreement?

The license agreement you signed when completing your housing application is binding for the entire academic year. Students who would like to request cancellation after the start of the quarter must submit the request via MySCAD. Only requests from the student will be accepted and are only considered under extenuating circumstances.
