What scholarships and financial aid are available to SCADnow online students?

Approximately 97 percent of full-time beginning undergraduate students at SCAD receive some type of financial aid. Federal and state financial aid programs are available for qualified students. Through the office of admission, SCAD administers a number of scholarships for entering students and to both U.S. citizens and non-U.S. citizens. Learn more about scholarship opportunities.

Educator Scholarship
Educators who are employed full time or in an adjunct capacity at the elementary school through university level at a public or private institution may be eligible to receive a half-tuition scholarship to attend SCAD at any location or via SCADnow online.

SCADnow online Pre-college Scholarship

Qualified high school or home-schooled students admitted to
 SCAD for joint enrollment may be eligible to receive up to a half-tuition scholarship to enroll in courses offered through SCADnow.

Yellow Ribbon Grant
SCAD voluntarily participates in the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program. Through the Yellow Ribbon Program, eligible veterans who apply and are accepted to SCAD may receive grant money from SCAD and a matching amount from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs toward their tuition at SCAD.

What are the technical requirements for SCADnow online students?

SCADnow students
 are responsible for their own communications software and ISP service. There are both minimum and suggested requirements for computer setup, although individual programs may have additional hardware, software, operating system, and browser requirements. SCADnow online courses are accessible through the MySCAD digital portal. Learn more about technical requirements.

How are SCADnow students introduced to the online learning community?

Students are introduced to online learning at SCAD via a virtual orientation session designed to familiarize them with the layout and navigation of the SCADnow learning platform. Students are provided information about SCAD resources and services including career services and access to the university’s extensive library collections.

When do classes start? 

SCADnow students may begin their study any quarter during the academic year. Courses align with the SCAD Savannah calendar

Do SCADnow courses meet at specific times?

SCADnow courses stream in real time and are accessible anytime allowing students to digitally connect to their studies according to their own distinct schedules. SCADnow delivers virtual class sessions via Zoom at designated times throughout the week and feature dynamic lectures, demonstrations, critiques, collaborations, discussions, professional guests, and more. Students unable to join live may log in based on their availability to watch the recorded class sessions, engage with academic content, and fulfill the course requirements.

What are the attendance requirements for SCADnow online courses?

Students enrolled in SCADnow courses are required to check the online course site regularly and academically engage in the daily work of the course as directed by the professor. Attendance for SCADnow online courses is determined by documenting weekly academic engagement. Students earn attendance in SCADnow online courses through active participation in live class sessions and/or asynchronously by participating in academically related activities on a minimum of two separate days per unit/week.
