A multidisciplinary artist, poet, and instructor, lé dieguê currently works at Springfield Commonwealth Academy. Influenced by his stepfather at a young age, lé dieguê began as a graffiti artist before pivoting to large-scale murals. Transcending art and academia, lé dieguê’s work honors self-expression as a connection between people and the cosmos, presenting light and color as signifiers of existence and, ultimately, a universal language. For the SCAD Alumni Atelier, lé dieguê is summoning the sub-spectrum of hues that emerge at specific angles when light passes through a transparent medium in a new series Angular Perceptions. Extending beyond the traditional ROYGBIV gradation to reveal new chromatic variations, this study enhances visualizations as a form of psychoanalysis to bridge the gap between color theory and emotional experience. @ledieguearte

Jason Hackenwerth
M.F.A., painting, 2003

A notable painter, sculptor, and installation artist, Jason Hackenwerth has shown in global galleries and museums including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. His brand of Abstract Expressionism blends contemporary compositions with unexpected materials and textures that harken to the primitive epoch of “art’s” discovery. For the SCAD Alumni Atelier, Hackenwerth is proposing 16 paintings that visually articulate the underlying emotions between compulsive thought as a representation of form and the transcendental states that emerge when detached from structure. The resulting works represent the visual manifestations of instinctive human mark-making as they relate to every mark ever made by mankind, and thus, exist within the indefinable suchness of what is, as related to the current paradigm. @hackenwerth

Abby Edwards
B.F.A., graphic design, 2016

Humbling the human experience through absurdist humor and youthful curiosity, Abby Edwards abstracts the ordinary and plays with perception, creating a visual thread throughout her work. For the SCAD Alumni Atelier, Edwards is sculpting an oversized pencil paired with three large stencils — similar to those used by children. These designs will be cut into transparent colored acrylic to form an interactive triptych. @abbyedwardsart
