SCAD commencement viewing help guide
Use this viewing help guide to ensure you are ready to seamlessly stream the commencement ceremony.
System and device requirements
Computers
Mac: Watch content on Intel-based Macs running macOS 10.12 or higher.
PC: Watch content on PCs running Windows 7 or higher.
iPhones and iPads
Watch content using Safari on iOS 11.2 or later.
Android devices
Watch content using Chrome on Android 6.0 or later.
Supported browsers
To watch at home, we recommend the following minimum specifications:
- An updated version of one of the following web browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or MS Edge
- Operating system: Windows 7+, Mac OS X 10.12+, or Ubuntu 10+
- An internet connection with a sustained speed of at least 1 Mbps
Internet speeds
For any device, you will need a strong and stable internet connection. Check your internet speed online, and use the following information to determine the minimum speeds required for each playback quality:

Ways to watch
Computer or mobile device
- Visit scad.edu/life/commencement.
- Select the “View the ceremony” link next to the ceremony you wish to view.
- On the resulting page, click to begin playing the video.
Direct connection: computer to TV
- Directly connect your computer (or other devices) to your TV via HDMI cable. Use online guides to learn how to connect using a Mac or a PC.
- Visit scad.edu/life/commencement.
- Select the “View the ceremony” link next to the ceremony you wish to view.
- On the resulting page, click to begin playing the video.
Apple AirPlay
- Using your Apple computer, iPhone or iPad, select the AirPlay icon.
- Connect to your Apple TV by entering the provided code. Your device screen should appear as a mirror on your TV.
- If AirPlay isn't working from your computer, try connecting from an iPhone or iPad.

Chromecast

Stream directly from a tab in the Google Chrome internet browser to a TV connected to a Chromecast* device. Once your Chromecast is set up, you can stream directly from your computer. Use an online guide to learn how to use Chromecast.
* Note: Chromecast is not available to cast from Apple iOS devices, including iPhones and iPads. - On the video page, open the Google Chrome menu in the upper right corner of the window (or the view menu) and select "Cast."
- Ensure the tab you want displayed is the one you are selecting to cast. The cast icon may also be displayed in the bottom right of your video player.
- Select your Chromecast source (consider selecting Google Chrome tab) and your Chromecast destination.
- Chromecast will be connected and video will be playing on your TV.
- To disconnect from Chromecast, click the blue stop icon next to your casting destination.
- If there are any issues with the Chromecast stream, try setting the video to a lower quality.
Playback troubleshooting guide
Lagging video and audio

Ensure you have a fast and stable internet connection. Check your internet speed online.
- If you are using Apple AirPlay, try connecting from an iPhone or iPad rather than a laptop.
- If you are using Chromecast, ensure your device and Chromecast are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Restart your TV and computer or device.
- Reboot your internet modem and/or wireless router.
Problems streaming on/from your computer
- Ensure you are not on a VPN (virtual private network).
- Clear your browser's cache and restart it. Ensure you are using the latest, updated version of a supported browser (listed above).
- Disable any ad-blocking software, browser extensions, and plug-ins or add-ons as these are known to interfere with website functionality. Once completed, close and reopen your browser and visit scad.edu/life/commencement.
- If you are plugged into your TV via HDMI connection, unplug the HDMI cable and then plug it back in.
- Reboot your internet modem and/or wireless router. Power it off, wait 20 seconds, and then turn it back on.
