Inclusion at SCAD

Our mission

The SCAD Office of Inclusion engages students, faculty, and staff to ensure a culture in which all people feel welcomed, valued, respected, and empowered to thrive.

From the heart

Foundation studies professor Fatemeh Hosseini (M.A., motion media design, 2020) grew up in Iran among a family of artists that nurtured both her passion and inspiration. She believes her life experiences helped shape who she is today. "I'm teaching from my heart," Hosseini says. "I tell my students, the purpose is not to be famous, it's to express life itself and speak of the truth. That's the true definition of happiness."

A contemporary, multidisciplinary artist whose artwork is bold, expressive, and truly unique

Art by Amiri Farris (M.F.A., painting, 2006) is full of intimate personal experiences and examines issues such as diaspora, culture, memory, and perception. When asked about his inspiration, Farris says, "I like to see artwork that will take one medium and use it to do something else. Artwork that is bold, expressive, and completely different."

'Christian Siriano: People Are People'

SCAD FASH is proud to honor Christian Siriano's, People Are People exhibition, which features bold creations from his decade-plus career that celebrate self-expression for every body at every age.
