Delta Air Lines' TechOps division is one of the largest airline maintenance, repair, and overhaul providers in the world, servicing both Delta's fleet of passenger jets as well as planes from more than 150 other airline companies. To assist its training programs, Delta TechOps tasked SCADpro with creating mobile games teaching new employees the principles of troubleshooting problems. In this two-part assignment, SCADpro students pitched and developed three mobile games centered around common maintenance issues employees encounter.

Project approach
Delta TechOps tasked SCADpro with developing mobile games that would enhance troubleshooting abilities and be fun for employees to play. Following the successful concept pitches, SCADpro students toured Delta's maintenance facility at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. After further research on airline maintenance practices, the student team began scripting and storyboarding three games covering common issues: circuitry, error codes, and hydraulics.
"Our internal teams are going to love the concepts created in this SCADpro partnership. The students have created the framework for us to hit the ground running."
Peter Compitello | Manager, Delta TechOps
Project outcome
SCADpro students developed three engaging minigames that would test the knowledge of TechOps employees: a circuitry minigame requiring the player to use Boolean logic statements to successfully complete various conditions, an error code minigame tasking the player with quickly identifying the correct code onscreen and finding the solution, and a hydraulic minigame where the player must fix the pathing of a plane's hydraulic systems flow. The student team also brought a level of realism to their games by rendering 3D assets that matched the design and look of equipment and objects at Delta's Atlanta facility, including a monitor and flight deck identical to where TechOps employees investigate error codes.
