SCADnow online faculty testimonials
David Harland Rousseau
Foundation studies professor
"Through the SCADnow discussion boards, students give and receive feedback on their submissions, which makes for a surprisingly interactive and supportive environment.
I connect with students through video critiques, instant messaging, and discussion boards. I also chat on the phone whenever further clarification is needed. Whenever possible, I upload video messages — a sort of 'fireside chat' for my students — to share my insight on broader issues related to the creative process.
Foundation studies serves students from multiple disciplines and we encourage students to think of themselves as focused professionals who embrace process, take calculated risks, and share insight. When critical thought and creative process are ingrained, the professional can pursue any career goal.
The asynchronous, 24/7 availability of SCADnow allows our students, who may be creative professionals, the ability to challenge themselves while still leading busy lives. The lectures are always available, as are the assignments. Feedback is provided on discussion boards, so it is easy to review in-class critiques from the comfort of one's home.
My most successful SCADnow students manage their time wisely. They contribute greatly to the discussion boards and find that providing feedback helps them to better understand their own work. They embrace process, objectively analyze their work, and always look for ways to create a more dynamic composition.
I am always touched by the support students show one another through SCADnow discussion boards and forums. Their collaborative growth is inspiring."

Liberal arts professor
"SCADnow students can expect rigorous and challenging opportunities for learning and personal growth. They engage in practical activities to improve their communication and public speaking skills.
The scholarly quality, integrity, and rigor of SCADnow courses replicate that of traditional brick-and-mortar courses. Our students benefit from convenient and flexible class schedules without sacrificing academic excellence.
I have 25 years of experience teaching communication and public speaking skills in various academic institutions and corporate settings throughout the U.S. The most successful SCADnow students care about their educational experience. Consequently, they are also disciplined, committed, hardworking, and conscientious. The most encouraging experiences I have had while teaching this course occur when students share their stories of developing confidence and skills that exceed their own expectations."

Interior design professor
"Although the information is presented differently, lectures, assignments, and discussions are the same whether a student attends via SCADnow or at an on-ground location. I regularly hold conferences and individual meetings with students through SCAD Connect.
My SCADnow students are typically working in their fields and they gain the same familiarity with classmates and faculty as they would in an on-the-ground class."

Advertising professor
"SCADnow online allows me to extend my reach and help students all over the world reach their full potential.
SCADnow students are able to continue with their day jobs or regular lives while pursuing a degree. In my experience, they are self-motivated and eager to learn, so I try to structure my feedback and projects as close to real-world situations as possible.
I enjoy being able to look back on the work each quarter and see how far my students have grown."
