Book provision policy
Financial aid recipients may be eligible for advance funds to purchase books and supplies prior to the end of the first week of class. To be eligible:
- Students must have received financial aid funds resulting in a credit balance for the quarter, and must have met all requirements for disbursement 10 calendar days prior to the start of the quarter.
- A financial aid credit balance is created when all financial aid funds exceed allowable charges (tuition, housing, and meal plan) for the quarter.
- Financial aid funds eligible include scholarships, grants (including the Pell Grant), federal loans, and alternative loans.
- Advance funds are to be used only for the purchase of books and supplies.
Eligibility is reviewed each quarter.
Students may request an advance using the “Books and Supplies Refund Advance” form located at MySCAD > Personal info tab > Payment refunds channel > “Books and supplies early refund request” link. This form should be completed every quarter that a student would like an advance.
Eligible students may specify the amount, up to the maximum available. The quarterly maximum can be found on the form, but is determined by the books and supplies allowance in the annual cost of attendance. The student accounts office will begin processing these forms 10 days prior to the start of the quarter, and refunds will be generated by direct deposit or a mailed check.
If you do not want a book credit, you do not need to do anything.
If you withdraw or cancel your classes, you must return the funds to SCAD.
