SCAD CELEBRATES 2024 CFDA SCHOLARSHIP FUND WINNERS


Highest number of CFDA Scholarship recipients in SCAD history

SAVANNAH AND ATLANTA, GA - September 2024 – The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) proudly announces that three of its talented students have been named 2024 CFDA Scholarship Fund recipients. Elizabeth Lawson, Hollis Maxson, and Bao Pham exemplify the brilliance and innovation of fashion's next generation of designers. The three SCAD students were awarded total combined scholarship winnings of $75,000, reinforcing the prestige of SCAD’s elite School of Fashion.

The final 2024 CFDA Scholarship Fund recipients were selected from hundreds of applicants. Lawson, Maxson, and Pham were each chosen for their outstanding fashion collections. A group of 34 finalists presented their work to esteemed CFDA Members and industry leaders, including CFDA CEO Steven Kolb, Esquire Creative Director Nick Sullivan, designer Todd Snyder, designer John Bartlett, designer Gigi Burgess O’Hara, fashion consultant and advisor Julie Gilhart, and Rag & Bone menswear designer Robert Geller.

SCAD 2024 CFDA Scholarship Recipients

Elizabeth Lawson (Fashion design, Lawrenceville, GA) was named the winner of the CFDA Design Scholar Award for Sustainability ($25,000) in recognition of her innovative approach to sustainable fashion.

Hollis Maxson (Fashion design, Berea, KY) was named the winner of the CFDA x Crystal Bridges Heartland Scholar Award ($25,000), reflecting their deep connection to heritage and craftsmanship.

Bao Pham (Fashion Marketing & Management, Ho Chi Minh,Vietnam) was named the winner of the Nick Sullivan and CFDA Menswear Design Scholarship ($25,000) celebrating his mastery and forward-thinking approach to menswear. Pham is the first-ever recipient of the newly created Nick Sullivan and CFDA Menswear Design Scholarship.

SCAD’s top-ranked School of Fashion is globally revered for offering one of the most elite and comprehensive programs in the world for undergraduate and graduate degrees in fashion, accessory design, jewelry, fashion marketing and management, fibers, and sneaker design.

Committed to supporting American fashion designers of tomorrow who are building a more inclusive, just, and equitable future for people and planet, the CFDA Scholarship Fund has awarded approximately $4 million and 376 scholarships between 1996 and 2024.
