In concert with the exhibition, SCAD is collaborating with three SCAD photography alumni to produce the first major monograph that will focus solely on Guo Pei and her spectacular oeuvre. This captivating volume will offer insight into her remarkable career and global significance as an artist in the form of a biographical essay, and will feature a foreword, curatorial note, full-color spreads and new and archival images of her work. The book will be published and distributed internationally by Skira Rizzoli and is slated for release in December 2017.

Guo Pei ABOUT THE DESIGNER

In her fantastical, unrestrained creations, Guo Pei imbues contemporary high fashion with ancient tradition, invoking history and mythology through intricate craftsmanship and avant-garde silhouettes. For more than 20 years, she has dressed distinguished ladies, royalty, political elite and international influencers. Her show-stopping, magnificent creations make her a modern messenger of her cultural heritage. Guo Pei made her Paris Fashion Week debut in January 2016 to wide critical acclaim. Later that year, she was named one of Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” and one of The Business of Fashion’s 500 “People Shaping the Global Fashion Industry.” Her work has been covered in major international news outlets, including Vogue, Women’s Wear Daily, The Sunday Times, Harper’s Bazaar, The New York Times, CNN and Forbes.

FASHION AT SCAD

The SCAD School of Fashion offers a balanced curriculum of design and construction, costume history, and merchandising and marketing. Fashion students are encouraged to develop creative and intellectual thinking, inventive design skills and the practical expertise necessary to succeed in global fashion careers.

One of the most comprehensive fashion schools in the world, SCAD offers undergraduate and graduate programs across four global locations and online in accessory design, fashion, fashion marketing and management, and luxury and fashion management.

To complement this innovative curriculum, the School of Fashion welcomes numerous designers and prominent industry professionals who give lectures, lead workshops, and provide valuable insight through one-on-one interaction with students. Recent visitors include Tom Ford International chairman Domenico De Sole; retail legends Simon Doonan and Linda Fargo; fashion news and business journalists Imran Amed, Bridget Foley and Anne Slowey; author Derek Blasberg; publicity maven Kelly Cutrone; and designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka, Carolina Herrera, Betsey Johnson, Christian Siriano and Alexander Wang, among many others.
