Daniel Martin
Daniel Martin is a beauty authority and social activist with a passion for education and self-improvement. Technically trained and highly sought after, Martin has more than 25 years of experience as a professional makeup artist for the beauty, fashion, and entertainment industries. His timeless approach to achieving understated, elegant, and sophisticated looks that highlight his clients' natural beauty has won over celebrities, models, brides, editors, and executives alike. Among Martin's loyal clientele are Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh and Emmy and Golden Globe winners Ali Wong and Elisabeth Moss, as well as Gemma Chan, Greta Gerwig, Jessica Alba, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jessica Biel, and Meghan
Markle, for whom he created a now-famous wedding-day makeup look in 2018. He has been recognized for his contributions to the beauty industry by Marie Claire including the "New Guard Artist of the Year" Image Maker Award as well as being named Makeup Artist of the Year in 2019 by InStyle. In addition to being a regular contributor to leading beauty, fashion, and lifestyle publications, Martin is known for his work as a beauty educator, offering global makeup classes and workshops. He has honed his expertise through an appreciation and deep understanding of how skin types and complexions play a crucial role in the efficacy of makeup and skincare. From his early start at the MAC counter in his local Seattle Nordstrom to an apprenticeship and later teaching position at Aveda, Martin has gone on to hold various positions of great influence in the beauty industry: creative color consultant for Honest Beauty, brand ambassador for Dior Beauty, and now global director of artistry & education at Tatcha (the first-ever appointment of an Asian American in an executive-level post within the beauty industry). A member of both the Asian American and LGBTQIA communities, Martin uses his platform to serve underrepresented and marginalized groups in the beauty industry and beyond, working closely with charitable organizations such as Act to Change, APEX for Youth, Callen-Lorde, and Room to Read in a continued effort to contribute culturally and empower others. Most recently, he was an honoree on Gold House's annual A100 list in recognition of his impact on society and culture.
