Christian Dior exhibition: 'Jardins Rêvés'

Amid the picturesque landscape of the Luberon Valley, Christian Dior: Jardins Rêvés unveils select garments by the famed couturier in dialogue with designs by renowned creative directors who have continued to serve the legendary house throughout its 78-year history. The first exhibition in the Provence region dedicated to Dior, this specially curated selection highlights the floral garden as a pillar of inspiration to the house’s celebrated collections.

Christian Dior’s passion for gardening took root in his early childhood spent with his mother Madeleine and sister Catherine in the gardens of their family home Villa Les Rhumbs in Normandy. These cherished memories would later inspire the designs and silhouettes of some of his most iconic creations and memorable fragrances such as Miss Dior.

The exhibition opens with an illustrated chronology spanning 1905 to 2025, giving way to a veritable fashion herbarium of floral- and garden-inspired silhouettes, including Christian Dior’s early designs as well as collections dreamt up by the house’s successive artistic directors Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons, and Maria Grazia Chiuri.

Surrounding these ensembles, an installation of delicate artisanal paper flowers designed and handmade by Wanda Barcelona — a close scenographic collaborator of Dior’s most remarkable exhibitions and events across the last 10 years — immerses guests in a horticultural paradise. The féerie continues with a dazzling selection of evening dresses and Dior’s signature “miniature dresses” among more than 60 hats, shoes, and jewelry on display within a spectacular cabinet of curiosities.

Christian Dior: Jardins Rêvés is created and organized exclusively by Christian Dior Couture in collaboration with SCAD. Curated by Hélène Starkman, exhibition curator for Christian Dior Couture, and organized by Rafael Gomes, creative director of SCAD FASH museums, and Ariel Stark, assistant director of fashion exhibitions and operations.
