Explore the revival and revolution of animated films at 'Pencils vs Pixels' SCADshow screening
Pencils vs Pixels is a celebration of the unique magic of hand-drawn 2D animation and an exploration of how Disney's 2D renaissance of the late 1980s and early 1990s quickly gave way to a 3D computer animation revolution. Narrated by actor Ming-Na Wen, who notably gave voice to Mulan near the end of Disney's 2D revival, Pencils vs Pixels features interviews with legendary artists who brought these now-classic films to life, guiding viewers through the recent decades of animation and into the future. The film's subjects include animation legends Glen Keane, Winsor McKay, and Mark Henn, along with other popular creators like Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls), Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy, American Dad), Jorge R. GutiƩrrez (The Book of Life), Sergio Pablos (Klaus), and Kevin Smith (Clerks: The Animated Series). A conversation with writer and director Bay Dariz and producer Jhemma Ziegler follows the screening.
This event is open to all SCAD Cardholders.
