Brian Freesh's focused filmmaking has been featured in Childish Gambino’s Grammy Award-winning music video This is America and television shows like Westworld, Insecure, and The Rookie.
How did SCAD help start your career?
"While at SCAD, I worked at the equipment checkout counter in the film department. That background helped me get a position at a rental house in Los Angeles for three years. I had already learned so much about camera equipment and support, and was fluent in technical and troubleshooting knowledge."
How is SCAD connected to the film industry?
"SCAD brought stellar guest speakers who shared with us how to make it in film. Now, I’m a SCAD mentor who guides students on their paths to directing, producing, or anything they want to do."
What’s next in your career?
"SCAD prepared me to contribute on all types of sets. I’ve shot music videos, commercials, and televisions, and I have stuck with American Ninja Warrior because it’s what got me started. Beyond that, I’m focused on making my own film, which is what I came to SCAD to learn, and something I’ve wanted to do since I was 6 years old."
