Broadway star Avery Wilson to join SCAD Bee Sharps for iconic Black History Month concert

Feb. 21–22 — Lucas Theatre for the Arts, Savannah
Thursday, Feb. 27 — SCADshow, Atlanta

SAVANNAH AND ATLANTA — The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) is proud to present BAM! (Black Artists in Music), the university’s acclaimed concert celebrations of Black History Month and Black musical artists. This year’s shows honor the influential voices of Black musical artists and their monumental contributions to the world of film. In 2025, BAM! has added a second performance in Savannah due to popular demand.

Grammy Award nominee and Broadway sensation Avery Wilson (The Wiz, The Voice) will join the SCAD Bee Sharps, the university’s premier vocal ensemble, at this electric concert series featuring iconic hit songs from culture-defining Black artists in gospel, jazz, R&B, soul, spiritual, and blues, as well as spoken word and dance. These uplifting, inspiring, and joyous concert experiences spotlight the rich traditions and innovations of Black music and its influence on the world.

Wilson will share the stage with multiple SCAD alums, including American Idol winner and SCAD music coordinator Candice Glover (B.F.A., dramatic writing, 2022), Kingdom Business and Empire actor Kiandra “Kiki” Richardson (B.F.A., performing arts, 2013), and singer and performer Terrence Williams Jr. (B.F.A., performing arts, 2022), along with a special appearance by SCAD acting professor Isaiah Johnson (Hamilton, The Color Purple) — and starring members from the SCAD Bee Sharps.

The concerts, from the minds of SCAD executive ensembles artistic director Mike Evariste (Les Misérables, South Pacific, The Book of Mormon, Hair) and choreographer and SCAD acting professor Tiffany Evariste (Aladdin, The Book of Mormon, Motown), is a musical journey honoring the influential voices of Black music artists and their monumental contributions to the world of film.

The Savannah concert will return to SCAD’s Lucas Theatre for the Arts at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, with a newly added second show at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22.
